Thirty-eight kills in a month of twelve thousand hours
The July island closes on Thursday 6 August 2026 at 2PM Eastern, and the ledger it leaves behind is the quietest thing this paper expects to print for a long while. Eight hundred and ninety residents passed through. They logged 12,382 hours of recorded presence between them. They killed each other thirty-eight times.
Almost everything else on the island moved at a completely different speed. In the same month those same residents put down 157,653 NPCs, cracked 99,938 barrels, hauled 48,938,542 wood out of the treeline and fired 1,725,976 bullets, of which 303,734 found a head. Two hundred and thirty residents who stayed longer than ten hours never killed anyone at all. The rest of this issue is an attempt to explain what they were doing instead.
One housekeeping note, said once. The event wire only came online at the end of this wipe, so July has no ticker, no weather ledger, no obituaries and no casino ledger. From next wipe the wire runs live, and this paper will finally be able to tell you the small stories: who fell off which monument, at what hour, and who was watching.
One resident answered a fifth of every rotor the island heard
Six hundred and thirty patrol helicopters came in over Survival in July and did not leave. MalcolmReynolds14 accounted for 121 of them, near enough one in five, and then kept walking. Forty-eight of the island's 669 locked crates opened under him, sixty-six of its 1,407 airdrops were on the ground when he got there, and the monument card readers logged 214 swipes in his name across green, blue and red. He threw 246 of the island's 3,379 C4 at the doors in between. CyanN shadowed him all month at 73 patrols, 61 drops and 27 crates, which on any other island would have been the story.
The heavy armour was somebody else's beat. Forty-seven Bradleys burned in July, and Gutts took eleven of them, with Dragon nine behind him. Between the two of them they handled almost half the tank problem on the island.
Thirty-eight arguments, and nobody won them
Mack_A led the island in kills with ten, better than a quarter of every kill recorded in July, and paid for it with 98 deaths. That is the entire shape of PvE on Survival: the residents who go looking for a fight find far more floor than opponent. Six thousand two hundred and ninety-nine deaths were logged against thirty-eight kills, which means the island itself did the overwhelming majority of the work.
Spartan0075 finished on four and CyanN on three. Two hundred and thirty residents put in ten hours or more and never touched another player.
Smellyhead spent 277 hours and left the island heavier
The most present resident of July was also the busiest builder. Smellyhead logged 277 hours, placed 3,204 structures and put down 18,781 deployables, which is one in every thirteen deployables on the whole island. TinglyMcMoist was close behind the furniture at 14,932. Snailster ran the workbench instead, crafting 5,414 items with Algorithm at 4,890.
All told the residents raised 140,529 structures, set 240,165 deployables and crafted 196,317 items. On Thursday afternoon every one of them stops existing.
Four residents carried four different mountains
Nobody tried to lead everything. Dragon took the treeline with 1,362,660 wood, dkwgduck broke a million stone exactly once at 1,006,237, Tydus went underground for 733,292 metal ore, and Baldilocks came up with 415,722 sulfur, which is a third of a million rockets' worth of argument that mostly never happened. Baldilocks also finished second in wood, the only resident to appear high on two different mountains.
Smellyhead worked the softer ground: 8,199 plants picked and 921 animals hunted, both island bests. The island's wildlife lost 25,574 head in July.
Three rods and a very patient month
Seven hundred and seventy-seven fish came out of the water in July, and three residents landed 448 of them. fl0x took 184, Di Sisto's 161, synysterlad 103. That leaves 329 fish for the other eight hundred and eighty-seven people who visited the island, which is a fair description of how fishing works here.
For scale: Pure, with 539 residents, managed 394 fish all month. Hardcore, with 344, managed 555. Survival is not the biggest island by hours, but it is the one where somebody sits down.
The closing ledger of the scrap era
Four hundred and eleven of the island's 890 residents stayed under an hour and were never heard from again. One hundred and sixty-one passed a full day. Twenty-two passed a hundred hours. The mean visit was 13.9 hours, a number that describes almost nobody: July was a month of tourists and lifers with very little in between. Behind Smellyhead's 277 hours came shadow1100cc on 246, Slickster on 245, CyanN on 234 and TinglyMcMoist on 218.
The most evenly shared statistic on the island was the bow. Eighty thousand three hundred and two arrows were loosed, and the leader, mountlifio, accounted for 772 of them, with Lynx on 767 and Corbs on 718. Nobody owns archery here. Compare that to the demolition beat, where harrisWyrm alone fired 1,242 of the island's 12,464 rockets, threw 929 of its 5,759 grenades, 292 of its 3,095 satchels and broke 508 of the 4,096 traps that stopped being traps. TooBy took down fourteen of the island's 127 cupboards, more than one in ten.
Against the sibling islands, Survival was the noisy one. Its residents put down 157,653 NPCs to Pure's 19,513 and Hardcore's 85,704, and downed 630 patrols to Pure's 131. Pure answered by wrecking 228 Bradleys to Survival's 47 and opening 1,329 locked crates to Survival's 669. Different islands, different arguments.
Finally, the money. Seven hundred and five thousand eight hundred and seventeen scrap moved through the July economy, and MalcolmReynolds14 earned 33,109 of it, with CyanN on 19,907 and TooBy on 13,645. It is the last virtual balance this paper will ever print. From the new map the economy is physical: scrap as always, joined by the Gold Coin, wealth you can hold, drop and lose.
The wire goes live with the new map. You will get the first ticker row this paper has ever run, the first weather ledger, and the first obituary. Somebody is going to die badly in front of witnesses, and for the first time we will know what time it happened.
The virtual wallet retires and the Gold Coin arrives, physical, sitting alongside scrap. July moved 705,817 through the old economy with MalcolmReynolds14 taking 33,109 of it. Watch whether the same residents rise to the top of a currency you can physically drop, or whether a coin that can be stolen changes who bothers to earn one.
